Innovit is searching for content savvy (website, blog content, eBook, product overview) writer who can edit our in-house content weekly.

This is a flexible, remote, work-from-anywhere role. contract position around 20 hours per month.

You must have impeccable writing skills. Eagle eyes and OCD grammarians welcome!

As a large proportion of our team resides in the US, the successful candidate must support US time zones on a long-term basis. Experience working within a fully remote environment is preferred.

Position Overview

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLE

Innovit is searching for content savvy (website, blog content, eBook, product overview) writer who can edit our in-house content weekly.

Key Objectives

OBJECTIVES:

  • Oversee and manage the voice quality of the content produced by the business and ensure all Innovit content maintains a high standard in quality, which will be identified with the business’s brand.
  • Proofread and edit material through their various stages all the way from conceptualization to their publication including final design review and website layout ensuring consistency of quality, style, and content.
  • Ensure digital deliverables contain error-free content that renders and functions correctly across a range of desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Oversee final QA and delivery of high-quality editing of both online and offline marketing content.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand, know and follow our detailed content editing guidelines.
  • Be able to judge good vs. poor content accurately.
  • Catch and stop typos before they get to a client.
  • Look for grammar, SEO, client/topic/brand name usage for accuracy.
  • Edits for content, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation and spelling. Verifies spelling, capitalization and abbreviations for all medical and scientific terms.
  • Reads for context, querying sentences and terms that are unclear and flagging inconsistencies and discrepancies.
  • Ensures the quality of editing and formatting is maintained at a near-perfect standard for all documents being edited.
  • Consults with authors and works collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Compiles, formats, and assembles special projects.
  • Approves content once it’s been designed in a PDF.
  • Review all digital content and layout and ensure look and feel meet our design standards.

Skills and Cultural Requirements

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS: You must have the following technical capabilities:

  • Excellent editorial and writing skills, attention to detail and a fondness for words.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of English grammar and usage.
  • Completes assignments by deadline; communicates with team members proactively, effectively and collegially.
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills and knowledge of the advanced functions of Word templates and styles. Familiarity with table formatting, bookmarking and hyperlinking
  • Well organized and adaptable. Able to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • High attention to detail and regard for organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • An understanding of healthcare terminology and familiarity with regulatory and compliance documentation is a plus.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES: You must have these professional traits:

  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented and comfortable with changing opportunities
  • Goal-oriented and entrepreneurial-minded with a strong drive to excel
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional writing experience
  • Experience with Microsoft programs
  • Experience writing for an online audience
