The Global Document Type Identifier is the identification key for a document type combined with an optional serial number and used to access database information that is required for document control purposes. The GDTI is assigned for the lifetime of the document type and may be bar coded using Application Identifier (253).
GEPIR

Global Electronic Party Register is a distributed database that contains basic information on over one million companies in over one hundred countries (GTIN, GLN, -defined elsewhere in this document)

GIAI

The Global Individual Asset Identifier is the GS1 Identification Key used in a diverse range of business applications ranging from tracking to recording the life cycle of the history of aircraft parts. It is assigned by the owner of the of the asst and may be bar coded using Application Identifier (8004)

GLN

Global Location Number, a globally unique number assigned by companies based on their GS1 prefix for use in EDI, and for numbering legal, functional, and physical entities.

GMROII

Gross Margin Return on Inventory Investment is a ratio in microeconomics that describes a seller’s income on every dollar spent (sales units divided by average inventory units equals gross margin divided by average inventory costs).

GPC

Global Product Classification is a product classification standard that identifies the category of a product.

GR

Global Registry is a global directory for the registration of items and parties. It can only contain data certified “CGI compliant” content. It federates GCI/GDAS compliant data pools and acts as a pointer to the data pools where master data has been originally and physically stored.

GRAI

Global Return Asset Identifier is the GS1 Identification Key for types of reusable package or transport equipment that are considered an asset. It is used to enable tracking as well as recording of all relevant data associated with the individual asset
or asset type. The GRAI is assigned for the lifetime of the asset and may be barcoded using Application Identifier (8003).

Stacked barcode most seen in the couponing. It can also contain a GTIN and can contain all application identifiers.

NMD
Neutral Master Data is shared between multiple parties and is relationship independent (e.g., GTIN, Item Description, measurements, catalog prices, standard items, GLN, addresses) (GDAS Definition) Most of the existing data pools facilitate the exchange of neutral master data.
Notification

The data sourced, through its home data pool /solution provider, send an electronic notice to the subscriber when a valid event occurs. This is based on the subscription profile. (Neutral or price attribute changes).

PIM

Product Information Management is the management of all information related to a product. Also referred to as product data management and product catalog management.

Planogram

Planograms are detailed in-store merchandise layout plans for a specific product or category. It includes location, type of fixturing, and number of facings by product.

Publication

The granting of access to a product within a product catalog. Access can be granted to a given list of parties (identified by GLNs) or to all parties in a market.

RSS

Reduced Space Symbology the OLD name for GS1 DATABAR, explained above. It included each of these: RSS-14, RSS Limited, RSS Expanded and RSS-14 Stacked.

SCM

Supply Chain Management is the integrated management of the flow of physical goods and associated information, from raw materials sourcing to delivery of finished products to consumers. Part of ECR philosophy.

Search / Browse

This provides data visibility according to the user’s permission and certain criteria such as Categories, GTIN, GLN, and target market, as well as other criteria. Data Pools provide this visibility in the framework of the GCI inter-operable network.

Subscription
A data recipient request for a product or group of products that is receive as a “notification”. A subscription is subject to the recipient’s access to information which is controlled by the data source through the publication process.
