GDSN Connectivity

Publish product data to GPOs and healthcare providers

The Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) enables medical products suppliers to exchange high-quality product and pricing information across a network of data pools that use GS1 data synchronization standards. Suppliers in the Healthcare supply chain, whether manufacturers or distributors, can share product information with their trading partners to drive efficiencies and cost reduction in supply chain logistics and inventory management. This ultimately benefits all parties by reducing errors rates in tenders & contracting; processing orders, invoices and payments; and reduces ‘never events’ in delivering patient care.

The Challenge
For most medical products suppliers, fragmentation of product data across multiple business systems, the lack of systematic master data governance, and inconsistent data quality assurance, is a major ‘internal’ business problem. Adding to this challenge is the increasing demands from customers for product master data. The diverse array of file formats and data standards required by customers across different market segments and sales channels, creates enormous costs in sales and distribution logistics. This challenge is even more pronounced for suppliers that sell to many countries across the globe.

For these global suppliers, local market requirements from hospitals, GPOs and government procurement agencies may require the publication of product data to multiple data pools, even if these data pool are “GDSN-compliant”. This is because some data pools are not capable of supporting full machine-to-machine interoperability to exchange product data, or they have local data requirements not supported by the global GDSN standard. Adding to this global ‘data sync’ problem is the need to maintain compliance with the ongoing, frequent changes to GDSN standards (at least four times per year), which leads to increased complexity and overall costs of master data maintenance and publication.

The Solution
Innovit’s Global Data Syndication Hub (GDSH), comprising GDSN Connectors for all major data pools in Healthcare, is designed to help medical products suppliers overcome these challenges by way of a single platform that is fully integrated with internal source systems to publish product and pricing data simultaneously, to multiple data pools across the globe. The GDSH implements a suite of GS1’s GDSN standards, covering all the variants of local market data requirements (US, EU, UK and Australasia), to enable global suppliers to synchronize trusted and validated product data with minimal effort.
Innovit’s GDSN Connectors are certified by major data pools such as 1WorldSync, atrify, GHX, Syndigo FSEnet, Australia’s NPC and TrueSource. Suppliers benefit from a solution, which comes ‘out-of-the-box’ with preconfigured data attributes, code lists and data validations for publishing to their chosen data pools and target markets (countries).

Innovit’s GDSH also automates the publication of item and price data in the data exchange formats and messaging protocols specific to each data pool. A complete history of publication messages and activities is stored in Innovit’s solution to provide the users with end-to-end visibility and traceability of their product data with hospitals, distributors and GPOs.

By replacing the need for multiple “connectors” with a single GDSN solution, Innovit’s GDSH provides medical products suppliers with flexibility & scalability to synchronize product data with any trading partner around the world. At the same time, the GDSH enables suppliers to reduce data maintenance costs, improve data accuracy, and streamline data governance processes that validate, convert and publish to individual customers, many customers in a market group, or the entire country (target market).
