- Event-Driven: An event driven architecture to trigger the execution of code. These events could be user actions or API calls and allow for lean and efficient execution of code for faster performance. Because most serverless functions are triggered by API calls, Genesis is well-suited for microservices and event-driven architectures.

To get Genesis into a fully serverless architecture, Innovit has implemented a strategy to migrate the existing standards based Java and EJB (Enterprise Java Bean) technology to a serverless architecture on Spring Boot by separating end-user and admin functionality and performing the migration in a phased, no-risk approach.

FOR END USERS AND ADMINS
From day one, Genesis delivers a modern browser-based UI/UX using Angular TypeScript and HTML5 for all end-users. Admin users can also leverage the same technology for system configuration for most UDI (Unique Device Identification) and GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network) use cases. For advanced PIM, MDM and workflow use cases, certain system configurations will remain on the Java based Swing UI until all admin functionality is migrated to a browser-based UI on Angular Typescript.

The Genesis serverless framework will be based on Docker containers, and offers functions built on the Java programming language. The database used is SQL Server (e.g. AWS RDS) and Document-based database (e.g. AWS DocumentDB, Azure CosmosDB) in line with what most Innovit customers already use today. Full technical specifications of the Genesis serverless architecture will be published once it becomes available.
